The Berkeley County Rescue Squad Dive Team

Our dive team is made up of individual members who are up to Rescue Certification. We respond to a variety of different calls each year, but the majority of calls are location and recovery of either vehicles, evidence, boats or missing people. Since the squad is limited on finances, each member is required to furnish their own gear. The squad does have additional air bottles and a HP refill station. Individual members are allowed to refill tanks for personal use. We try to train almost every weekend during the warm months. Even though most of our training is artifact hunting in the Cooper River, I believe that if you can dive the Cooper River with an outgoing tide, you can dive anywhere. Besides that, most of our calls are in zero visibility ponds, Lake Moultrie or the Cooper River. What better training ground could you ask for. If you would like more information or would like to dive with us, contact either Frank Vecchio [rescue018@berkcorescue.com] or Todd Hicks [rescue03@berkcorescue.com]. The Dive Team meets at 6:00pm on the second Thursday of each month. Check out our calendar of events for any upcoming dives. All of our meetings are public if you would like to sit in or just stop by and meet everyone.

We are currently looking for qualified divers to join our Dive Team. If you are interested in only joining the Dive Team and not having to respond to other calls, please contact us. You would be called out when needed and for training. This way you will be exempt from the regular requirements of membership.
